Where Do We Explore?

The Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay is a staple body of water for those around the Mid-Atlantic Region. Hailing from the Algonquin Tribe's word for a village at a big river, The Bay first received its name in 1585, the "Chesepiooc." After many years, "The Chesapeake Bay" became its official name, translating to "great water." Today, The Chesapeake is home to thousands of thousands of marine species spread throughout its 4,479 square mile surface. Spanning 200 miles long, The Chesapeake highlights several of Maryland's and Virginia's landmarks and popular cities. This includes Annapolis, MD; Kent Island, MD; Cape Charles, VA; and many more.
